Jean Baudrillard is characterized as the “Last Prophet of Europe”: not just because he was a prominent thinker, French philosopher and author of more than 50 works and essays that examine modern consumer society in depth. Events and phenomena described by Baudrillard in his works 20-30 years ago are taking place today. In his writings he described his view of the world, criticized the emergence of hyperreal and by using a specific type of writing he conveyed why people and society are the way they are.  

In 2021, the translation of the first book in the series saw the light: “Maestro. Jean Baudrillard. The Last Prophet of Europe” (Oleg Maltsev and Lucien Oulahbib). This book demonstrated the integral system of Baudrillard’s philosophy in sixteen chapters and the author provided thorough analysis of each “brick and construct” of Baudrillard’s system presenting to readers for the first time a complete theoretical model. The second book about the philosophy of Jean Baudrillard was announced and is titled “Ownerless Herd.” Dr. Maltsev has finished working on the overall structure of the book during the expedition to Italy in March 2023. Along with the continuation of many year study of the history of Italian organized crime organizations, Expeditionary Corps (special department of the Memory Institute) conducted a thorough study of Sicilian mafia’s history, more about the field study can be found on the pages of Expedition Journal. 

In the frameworks of working on the book “Ownerless Herd”, Maltsev came to the conclusion that “language” of European mysticism and Baudrillard’s work speak of the same things in their essence. One of the goals of the book is to present the machine that combines these two languages: European mysticism and Baudrillard's. “Ownerless Herd” is the other title for “masses”, “silent majority” or “screened out” described by Jean Baudrillard in his works. The book “Ownerless Herd” is about the world order that we live in. The book will provide a view on how global machine of hyperreality functions, what are the elements of it and how they impact the future of each person. The book will also provide indepth analysis of information distortion methods and models that explain the nature of all conflicts, be it a geopolitical or an everyday conflict between two people. This straightforward and practical book will show how different mechanisms and elements that are integral part of our societies create hyperreality and turn people into an “ownerless herd”, in other words, into idiots.
